On 19 May 2026, Cyberjaya College Kuching organised an educational visit to the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building, providing students with valuable firsthand exposure to the state’s legislative and governance processes.
The delegation comprised members of the Student Representative Council (SRC), students from various academic programmes, and college staff. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the roles and responsibilities of state assembly representatives in serving their constituencies and shaping public policy in Sarawak.
The group was warmly welcomed by Mr. Tan Hun Seang, Senior Special Administrative Officer for N.14 Batu Kawah, who conducted an informative guided tour of the DUN complex. During the session, students learned about the history of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, its distinctive architectural features, and its future development plans. As the legislative assembly was in session, the delegation was also given the opportunity to observe the proceedings live from the public gallery, offering a rare insight into parliamentary discussions and decision-making.
A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to meet The Honourable Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, and State Assemblyman for N.14 Batu Kawah. In his address, he shared insights into the Sarawak Government’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 vision and emphasised the significance of the DUN, parliamentary procedures, and the impact of legislative decisions on the people of Sarawak.
The delegation also had the privilege of meeting The Honourable Billy Anak Sujang, State Assemblyman for N.1 Opar, who shared his professional perspectives on environmental health based on his experience as the former State Chief Environmental Health Officer of the Sarawak State Health Department.
Cyberjaya College Kuching extends its sincere appreciation to the Office of the Deputy Premier of Sarawak for graciously hosting the delegation despite the busy legislative schedule. The visit served as a meaningful educational experience that strengthened students’ awareness of governance, leadership, and civic responsibility while encouraging greater engagement with public institutions and community development.
